Scrum process activities in agile
The sprint is the main activity of scrum in agile project management. The scrum process is iterative and incremental, and the project is split into a series of sequential sprints. Sprint works in time frame, usually to between one week and a calendar month. Generally the most common sprint durations of a Scrum agile process is two and three weeks. During this time, the Scrum team does everything to take a small set of features from user stories (requirement) to coded and tested functionality.
In the first scrum process activity, there is a sprint planning meeting of each sprint. During this meeting, the product owner and team discuss about the high priority product backlog items. Team members decide, how many items they can deliver, and then create a sprint backlog, which is a list of the tasks to perform during the sprint.
This agile process methodology states that on each day of the Scrum sprint, a daily scrum meeting is attended by all scrum team members, including the Scrum Master and product owner. Duration of this meeting is not more than 15 to 20 minutes. In meeting team members share their previous day work and todays work, and identify any impediments to progress. Daily scrums serve to synchronize the work of team members as they discuss the work of the sprint.
At the end of a Scrum sprint, the scrum teams conducts a sprint review. In sprint review meeting, the scrum team demonstrates the functionality developed and added during the sprint. The purpose of this meeting is to get feedback from the product owner, any other users or stakeholders who have been invited to the review meeting. This feedback may just as likely result in revising or adding items to the Scrum product backlog.
Another scrum process activity performed at the end of each sprint is the sprint retrospective meeting. The whole scrum team participates in this meeting, including the Scrum Master and product owner. The purpose of this meeting is an opportunity to reflect on the sprint that is ending and identify the improvements in the next sprint.
